Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO)
and Weight Control
Because coconut oil has been discovered to
increase one's metabolism, many who have introduced coconut oil
into their diets have reported weight loss.
Coconut oil contains medium chain fatty acids (MCFA).
Unlike the long-chain fatty acids found in other oils, such as
vegetable oil, MCFA's are more easily absorbed by the body because
they are a smaller. Rather than being stored in the body as
fat, MCFA's are rapidly digested by the body.
Not only is coconut oil easy to digest, but it
also enhances the absorption of many other nutrients, such as
minerals (like calcium and magnesium), B vitamins, fat-soluble
vitamins (like A,D,E and beta-carotene), and amino acids from
protein.
For more information about the use of coconut
oil for the purpose of weight loss, read Dr. Bruce Fife's
excellent book entitled, "Eat
Fat, Look Thin." Through this book, you can learn
how to lose weight healthily (and relatively easily) and put
yourself on the road to better health.

Obesity Top Health
Problem in the U.S.
According to the Centers for
Disease Control, Obesity is the number one health threat in
the U.S. today. The top five killers in America (in
order) are: heart disease, cancer, stroke, lung disease and
accidents. According to Dr. Julie Gerberding of the
CDC, obesity is a leading cause of the first three.
