Background

The May 20, 2003, issue of Woman's World magazine ran an article entitled "The New Thyroid Cure."  This article has helped to generate a lot of interest in coconut oil.  

Thyroid Health

The thyroid is an important gland that produces hormones that influence every single cell in the body, including the regulation of body temperature, metabolic rate, reproduction, growth, the making of blood cells, nerve and muscle function, and much more.  When the thyroid does not produce hormones, a condition known as hyprothyroidism occurs (see the box to the left for a list of symptoms).  This also results in a slowdown in one's metabolism.

Role of VCO

By introducing virgin coconut oil into your diet, your body's metabolism can increase, and your energy level will rise as well.  Many symptoms of hypothyroidism can be alleviated through daily intake of coconut oil.

What is Hypothyroidism?
